The wooden hammock stand comes with a clear lacquer which protects it from the elements. If the stand is going to be left outdoors it is a good idea to re-coat the hammock stand ever 6-12 months. This way the life of the stand will be maximised.

Our Cypress wooden stand provides the perfect way to hang any of our Mexican (double, Queen, King or resort) hammocks.

To ensure maximum durability we are also provide a hammock stand cover. This prolongs the Cypress stands life by many years through protecting the timber from the elements (sun, wind & rain).

The Hammocks Australia Cypress stand will create a standout feature in your outdoor setting. Sure to draw the eye and attraction attention.

Assembling Your Cypress Pine Wooden Hammock Stand

Below are simple steps to follow in assembling your wooden hammock stand. All the necessary tools and pieces are included with your new stand purchased through Hammocks Australia online store. Assembly instructions are also included within the stand packaging.

Step 1

Place the two shorter wooden pieces parallel on the ground approximately 2m apart. The arcs should be facing down so that the two ends are touching the ground as shown below.

Step 2

Locate one of the remaining pieces of wood with three holes drilled on the side of each end. Place this piece so that the hole on the top lines up with one of the outside holes on the pieces of wood from step one.

Locate one of the shorter bolts, 2 rubber washes, 2 metal washes and a nut. Place a rubber washer and then a metal washer on the bolt and thread through the two pieces of wood as shown on the right.

Once threaded through place a rubber washer on the other end, a metal washer and then screw the nut on just enough for it to be on the thread (do not tighten as shown below). Do the same for the other end of the wood.

Step 3

Follow the same steps as step 2 for the remaining piece of wood with three holes drilled on the side at each end. This piece needs to be lined up with the two outside holes of the base piece. There will be a space between the two pieces of wood. Once you have done this it should look as shown in the picture below.

Step 4

You will need a second person to help with this step. Take one of the remaining pieces of wood and place the end with the three holes on the side and one at the top in between the two pieces of wood so that the end arcs up. Line up the single hole with the remaining single hole on the stand base. Thread a short bolt through with washes as previously done and again do not tighten the bolt. You can now line up and insert the three long bolts through all three pieces of wood. You may need to move the stand base slightly for the holes to line up. You should not need  the use of a hammer or any other device. Your stand will now look as follows;

Step 5

Carry out the same steps as in 4 for the remaining piece of wood and insert the eye bolts with washes. Your stand should now look like the following.

Step 6

You can now tighten all of the nuts. Do not over tighten. You are now ready to secure your hammock to the eye bolts. You may need to reverse one or both of the eye bolts so the hammock arcs correctly.

Cotton Hammocks and Wooden Arc Hammock Stand

Traditional Mexican hammocks come in two cords – cotton or nylon (refer to point 1 in our FAQ).

When it comes to measuring the appropriate hanging distance or for those who use our deluxe Cypress timber stand; the different cords require different hanging lengths.

Without any weight in the hammocks both the cotton and nylon are the exact same length and have the same arc shape. However with one or more people in the hammock; the cotton cord variety has much greater stretch. To give you an idea the cotton cord hammock will pull down around 40cm more than the nylon cord.

When using our Cypress Wooden Stands this means the difference between being able to lay in the hammock (nylon) and your bottom/back hitting the base of the stand. There are a couple of steps to take to ensure your cotton hammock provides a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

The first is to turn the eye bolts around as shown below. The hammock arm will rest on the top of the hammock stand.
Once you have done this be sure to securely fix the hammock loop to the eye bolt so that it cannot slip off.

Reversing Hammock Hook on Stand

The second step is to tie a single knot in the hammock arm near the end loop. This can be done on either one or both ends depending on the weight the hammock is to hold (refer to examples provided below).Tying a knot in the ends of your hammock will shorten the total length of the hammock allowing the hammock to be well off the hammock base when you are in it and won’t compromise the ability of the hammock to spread out(as your instructions details you are to lie at a 45-60 degree angle from the hammock stand base). This method allows you to shorten your hammock by up to 40cm with each pair of knots.
