Outdoors are the not the only domain of the hammock. They can be equally well enjoyed inside. Whether its a hammock chair in the lounge for watching tv, or a king size cotton hammock in the bedroom.
Setting up a hammock indoors is quite a quick and easy job. Basically you need a couple of strong wall attachments for the hammock to fix to. These can vary on the type of wall you have, brick/wood etc. For wood you can use something like a screw eye hook which can usually be screwed directly into a beam or solid wall joist by hand. Space these out approx 4m apart and at a height so when the hammock is hung it will at its lowest point come to rest between your hips and thighs - around 6ft or 2metres. For a concrete wall you will likely need to pre-drill holes and use a different fixture. Specialised hammock attachments are great for this or check at your local hardware store, they are likely to have a range of suitable fixtures and fittings. Just ensure what you get is capably of holding your weight, and so is the wall! We don’t want you going and pulling your house down!
With the wall fittings in place, you can then easily tie up you hammock when in use, and simply untie and remove when you want it out of the way. Or with the use of a 'S' hook you can just slip the hammock on an on. Using a wall hook is good for this as you can just take down one side and hook both loops over the one hook, keeping the hammock against the wall and out of the way when not in use.
If you are hanging a chair hammock indoors, you simply need one strong ceiling beam to attach a fitting to and hang from.
So give it a try, find a spot inside and enjoy your hammock all year round. Grab a book, your laptop and blanket, curl up and gently sway away in comfort.
